Hello
Welcome to our website!
Jolly Farm Stables is a project that has been close to my heart for several years... As you will discover, I spent a good number of years abroad to enrich my knowledge on the different ways of training, breaking in, understanding horses and ensuring their well-being in a boarding facility. Thanks to this project, I'm hoping to bring more understanding around equine behavioural issues, the occurence of conflicts behaviours, and to explain as much as I am able the sources of any issues and how to work with them towards a full resolution, as well as ensuring a sustainable and healthy development during their training. As I explain in 'my approach', the number of horses taken in boarding is limited to 3 per month. This allows me to ensure complete and rigorous monitoring of your horse to guarantee incomparable attention.
My Story
I have always had a passion for horses and riding; as I grew up I wanted to invest even more in this passion... At first I wanted to find a school or university that could offer to their students the ability to understand the needs of the competition and racing horse in training, from a point of view that goes beyond traditions that are not always founded. These studies taught me to adapt the most recent and effective training methods around the world while staying connected with the equine scientific community and their research.
With the popularization of social media, there has also been a growth of clips that show an approach to horsemanship, at all levels, that can be considered far from ethical. I then continued in my studies to not only understand the correct methods of training but also to understand how the horse learns, how it thinks, and why certain unethical methods are used or have been used historically, and what role they may have had in the foundations of horsemanship.
My passion then led me to not only better understand the behavior of the horse but also understand the signs, even minimal, that he may be in pain, feel nervous, or even in a 'depressed state' and how to effectively resolve these problems. This scientific, patient and respectful approach is applied constantly during my sessions whether they are on foot or on horseback, it is one of the guarantees with all the programs offered.
To finish my studies I finally studied to a Postgraduate level the rehabilitation and physical welfare of the ridden and competition/racing horse. This last diploma was a perfect addition to my skills, this allows me to provide treatments to ensure the complete welfare of your horse, and to understand on a musculoskeletal level if certain behavioural problems can be due to a physical unalignements, or vice versa, if one of the impacts of a behaviour leads to physical aches, this can be located frequently in the neck, the back, or in the nerves of the head. Today I still continue to push my knowledge at the first opportunity, I attend courses as often as possible, often in the UK or Canada.
Each plan and program is individually designed by listening to your needs and adapting them to the needs and ability of your horse/pony.
